NAVAGRAHA STOTRAM
Sun
Javaa kusuma sankasam kashyapeyam mahadutim
Tamorim sarva paapghnam pranatosmi divakaram
I pray Sun, who shines like the javaa flower, the descendent of Kaashyapa who destroys all sins, the enemy of darkness and the one with great brilliance.
Moon
Dadhi shankha tushaarabham ksheero darnava sambhavam
Namaami shashinam somam shambhor mukuta bhooshanam
I pray Moon whose cool rays resemble curds and the conch, who was born while churning the ocean of milk and who adorns the head of lord Shiva.
Mars
Dharanee garbha sambhootam vidyut kaanti samaprabham
Kumaram shakti hastam tam mangalam pranamamyaham
I pray Mars, the son of Earth, who shines with the brilliance of lightning, the youthful one who carries a spear in his hand.
Mercury
Priyangu kalika shyaamam roopena pratimam budham
Soumyam soumya gunopetam tam budham pranamamyaham
I pray Mercury, who is like the bud of millet and who is gentle by nature and has great gentle looks.
Jupiter
Devanaam cha rishinaam cha gurum kaanchan sannibhaam
Buddhi bhootam trilokesham tam namaami brihaspatim
I pray Jupiter, the celestial teacher, who shines like gold amongst the Devatas and the Rishis, and who is the embodiment of the intellect the three worlds.
Venus
Hima kundaa mrinalaabham daityanaam paramam gurum
Sarv shastra pravaktaaram bhargavem pranamamyaham
I pray Venus, who shines like the petals of the snow-white jasmine, the great guru of the Rakshasas who is possessed of all learning.
Saturn
Neelanjana samaabhasam ravi putram yamagrajam
Chaaya martanda sambhootam tam namaami shanaischaram
I pray Saturn, the slow moving son of Chaya and Sun, the elder brother of Yama, who has the appearance of black collyrium.
Rahu
Ardha Kaayam mahaa veeryam chandraditya vimardhanam
Simhika garbha sambhootam tam rahum pranamaamyaham
I pray Rahu, born of Simhikaa, who is of half a body and is a great warrior who eclipses the Moon and the Sun.
Ketu
Palaash pushpa sankaasham taraka graha mastakam
Roudram roudraatmakam ghoram tam ketum pranamaamyaham
I pray Ketu, who resembles the Palaasha flower, whose head resembles a star and who is fierce and terrifying.
